I've heard the music, the name and the lineage of Fela Kuti. It never really struck me why this man is a revolutionary. This usually happens when artist can match the intensity of the political climate with sound. But, I just recently was put onto how much of a Don Fela is when I watched his DVD documentary 'Music as a Weapon'. Cop it or catch the free showing @ Harbourfront Centre in Toronto this Saturday 4pm.
